The M&A Advisor, a globally renowned organization that showcases excellence in dealmaking, proudly announces Paul Aversano, a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal, as a recipient of the 2024 Leadership Award. The annual honor recognizes the most substantial contributions to the mergers and acquisitions industry.
For over 25 years, Mr. Aversano has been a leader of both buy-side and sell-side financial and accounting due diligence projects for complex public and private company transactions, as well as transactions in the capital markets. Mr. Aversano will receive his award during the 15th Annual International M&A Awards, a feature of the
2024 Leadership in Dealmaking Summit, on September 24 at the historic New York Athletic Club in New York City.

In addition to being honored with this year’s Leadership Award, Mr. Aversano will also be inducted into The M&A Advisor’s Hall of Fame on November 20, during the 23rd Annual M&A Advisor Awards Gala.
Mr. Aversano joins a notable and exclusive community of industry leaders in the The M&A Advisor Hall of Fame, including Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, “Father of Venture Capital” David Morgenthaler; private equity legends John K. Castle, Rodger Krouse, Marc Leder, David Bonderman, Jay Jordan; renowned advisors Bruce Wasserstein, Joele Frank; and legal champions Rodgin Cohen, Jack Butler, Corinne Ball and Harvey Miller, among others.

Mr. Aversano has been a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), a leading global professional services firm, since 2006. He serves as the Global Practice Leader of A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group (Global TAG) and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Mr. Aversano co-founded Global TAG and developed the practice into a network of 1,000+ client service professionals around the world.
Mr. Aversano has charge of A&M’s cross-border delivery of transaction services to private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, corporate and strategic buyers around the world across the industry spectrum. Additionally, he leads a significant amount of the firm’s global expansion efforts and has oversight of A&M’s Corporate Transactions Group, a recently launched U.S. practice that partners with corporate clients to seize M&A opportunities in the marketplace.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Aversano was a Partner with Ernst & Young and Director of New York Middle Market Private Equity. Previously, he was with Arthur Andersen’s Transaction Advisory Services and Audit practices in New York.
Mr. Aversano earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Binghamton University and is a former member of the university’s Alumni Association Board of Directors. He was the 2019 recipient of the school’s B. Jean Fairbairn Access Award in recognition of his efforts in improving services and access for students with disabilities. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund (Answer the Call) and PowerPlay NYC, a non-profit organization committed to advancing the lives of girls through sports.
